Buying home furniture from china?

d is right. most of the affordable furniture sold in the western world is made in China. There is nothing wrong with the quality, and now that there are regulations regarding paint, you should be fairly at ease with the materials.

that said, it is a wise idea to support your local economy %26amp; fellow countrymen by buying furniture made in the USA or whatever country in which you may live. otoh, most of those items will be more expensive because westerners put a higher value on their time %26amp; labor.Buying home furniture from china?
It's junk and partical board with all metal fasteners sub standard metal..and the finish on it is lead induced....I wouldn't buy anything from them...Buying home furniture from china?
I designed and had custom made a dining room set in China out of Rosewood. If you are able to work with the manufacturer, you have control over every aspect of their operations in constructing your furniture. If you are using another company to purchase through, you do not. I did not want toxic lacquers or chemicals used in the manufacturing process and it was not, but if I wasn't there to specifically request that, no telling what would have been used from glues, to stains to sealers, to anything else. I think the quality and workmanship was wonderful, but constant inspections helped ensure it.
isn't most of the furniture in this country (USA) from China? :o(
Buying anything from China is scary. Besides the obvious problems like possible lead paint and other toxins that may be used, one should really consider the workers who produce the goods we use.

I think it's better to look for locally produced goods that can be verified to have been produced at a fair wage.
