Should foreigners be allowed to buy homes in the US?

Chinese are finding US Real Estate a bargain (MSNBC). The Chinese are heading to US to buy cheap homes.

Our homes and jobs are going to non-US residents. How do you feel about this?Should foreigners be allowed to buy homes in the US?
Um well...if they can afford to purchase these homes, with proper qualified funding (you know instead of sub prime BS loans)...then it's only doing us good...

They are ';Stimulating'; OUR economy.

They are paying property tax on these homes and that's revenue that is going to that town....

What I think is MORE important...is that we stop buying crap from china...if they want to bring cash HERE and pay taxes HERE...GREAT...but we sure as hell shouldn't be sending money there.

If we manufactured our own stuff HERE instead of having chinese children do it in chinese factories so that we can pay 2 bucks for it at Target...we'd HAVE MORE JOBS HERE....

It's not their fault that we outsource our labor because we want to exploit them so that we can save a buck....

I'd MUCH rather have an immigrant come over here and work a legitimate job, pay taxes and acquire a home responsibly than to have someone, ANYONE, immigrant or citizen, living here on the government.

If these people can afford to actually purchase because of their own financial qualifications...more power to them.Should foreigners be allowed to buy homes in the US?
Ok, first off, homes and jobs and the real estate that you speak of are not related...

If you are a Chinese business person and you buy an entire city block in New York, it does not guarantee you citizenship or the ability to live here.

Of course, if you have the money to buy an entire city block, then we WANT you to live here...

It is worrisome how much we are in debt to other nations, but I think outsourcing our jobs to other countries is far worse than allowing foreigners to take part in our real estate market.
Hell. the Japanese own most of Hawaii. I remember when they tried to buy Ft. Drusy/Pearl Harbor. They are also buying up ranch land, raising cattle, shipping them off to Washington state, putting them on a ship where they are slaughtered and then sold in Japan by Japan. Sadly, greedy Americans can't see the long term ramifications of such practices and are only looking for immediate benefit.
Americans and American companies buy land and homes and buildings in other countries, so why not?

In Iraq, a company in the US is planning on building a shopping mall in the Green Zone

do unto others.....
Buying homes in our country means their paying our home builders money, and putting more money into our economy. Isn't that a good thing for us?

Also, why shouldn't they? You can go to other countries and buy land if you want. Do you really want this country to be less free? When this country was founded there were no immigration laws, it's one of the things that made us great. Now we're becoming more and more inbred because we refuse to let people in.
Yeah well next time you go to wall mart and buy there china junk remember where the Chinese are getting the money from to buy the house in the first place . When you see your neighbor in a homeless shelter on you way to wallmart kick yourself in the azz and hope that your not next.

Edit : Sorry for being rude but its about the only way people notice what you say anymore.,

Edit one more time : Do you remember wallmart apologizing to China for sending there lead base paint on toys here ? Rudely put Wallmart needs to go to hell .
I don't have a problem with it. It's not like we're letting them set up military bases in the US. Money is money. If they want to contribute to our economy, great! At least someone has the money to do it.

People from all over the world are coming to America to take advantage of the opportunity, in more ways than buying houses. I don't see hear beeyatching about them though.

If these people can afford homes in the USA, they obviously don't need our jobs.
absolutely, nothing wrong with that, if they have the money. At least every celeb has a mansion in Europe, so I guess it is allowed. So why can't the foreigners buy houses here?
Only if they are here legally... or it is to be used as a vacation home of sorts...

Personally, I would much rather Americans have the jobs and the land... but if foreign people are going to do the job and do it better... :/
Of course they should! It's our own fault, we got ourselves into this mess, I don't blame others for taking advantage of our own stupidity! They are seeing an opportunity to make bucks and taking their right to make the best of it!
What a racist question.

Anyone from any country in the developed world at least, can buy homes in other countries, it happens everywhere.

From what I see in the current climate, Americans can't even afford Mortgages for those houses you complain about foreigners occupying, at least they can afford it
Why would that be a bad thing? If they can buy a home then they obviously have purchasing power, which we want.
Angry
Americans are allowed to buy homes and work abroad, so why not?
Well....Americans aren't buying houses right now....so, sure...we'll take money from the Chinese.
Well they cant take it with them.
It bucking stucks!
Americans buy homes in other countries...I am fine with that...
It stinks.
yes, just like americans are allowed to buy homes in other countries

america is a capitalist state. whomever is smarter or will work harder will get the job
FORIEGNERS OWN THE MORTGAGE COMPANIES AND BANKS.WE ARE BEING PILLAGED DAILY....WE BEEN SELLING HOMES TO ILLEGALS FOR YEARS.NOT TO MENTION FREE HEALTH CARE,WELFARE,EDUCATION AND BUSINESS GRANTS.THE CHINESE KNOW A CASH COW WHEN THEY SEE ONE.THATS WHY THEY INVESTED IN OBAMA'S CAMPAIGN.
No, of course not, they should be given homes.
Only if they have money.
Well; they do own the U.S.
Yes,

Then they'll be paying property tax to us.
